March 1 Friday Night Movie

Wow – what a great weather-week we are having. I hope you all have had a chance to play outside and find some of the vitamin D that you lost in the darkness of January! We have a REALLY popular movie we are excited for this week, as well as a much deeper and important movie that involves an important issue that affects families across America, including many in Seward. We hope to see you enjoying a movie or two with your family and friends this week!

This Friday, March 1st at the movies…

6:00 PM – Ralph Breaks the Internet (PG – 116 mins)
Video game bad guy Ralph and fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz must risk it all by traveling to the World Wide Web in search of a replacement part to save Vanellope’s video game, “Sugar Rush.” In way over their heads, Ralph and Vanellope rely on the citizens of the internet — the netizens — to help navigate their way, including an entrepreneur named Yesss, who is the head algorithm and the heart and soul of trend-making site BuzzzTube.

8:00 PM – Boy Erased (R – 115 mins)
Jared Eamons, the son of a small-town Baptist pastor, must overcome the fallout after being outed as gay to his parents. His father and mother struggle to reconcile their love for their son with their beliefs. Fearing a loss of family, friends and community, Jared is pressured into attending a conversion therapy program. While there, Jared comes into conflict with its leader and begins his journey to finding his own voice and accepting his true self.

Boy Erased involves adult topics and is rated R – kids under 17 should bring an adult or note from a parent/guardian to attend. We are happy that the Seward Pride Alliance has agreed to offer information about this movie and its subjects following the movie.

Doors open at 5:30 and admission for all ages is $2 for each movie.

Movies are shown at the UAF/Seward Marine Center at the corner of Railway and 3rd Avenue.
