NPS Park Ranger position available through Alaska Local Hire Program

Kenai Fjords National Park is accepting applications for the Park Ranger (Interpretation) GS-0025-07 position. The full-time, temporary position will last from approximately late-April or mid-May thru mid to late September.

Applicants must have lived in or near Kenai Fjords National Park for at least 12 consecutive months.

Position Description:  This seasonal position is located in the Division of Resource Management at Kenai Fjords National Park and performs a variety of tasks associated with the use and management of park resources.  This position will convey resource stewardship information to the public, and independently conduct research for visitor use numbers in the Frontcountry area in preparation for the Kenai Fjords National Park’s Frontcountry Management Plan.    Duties include collecting visitor use data such as vehicular number, trail use, and visitor counts for the Plan.   This position will also assist in organizing public meetings and presenting public talks for the Frontcountry Management Plan will also be part of this job.  The position will be expected to be able to communicate well with visitors and convey resources stewardship information to the public.  Resource management tasks and duties supporting the mission of the park will also be assigned.
