Even with a retail space jampacked with outdoor gear, the owners of the Seward Outdoor Store know there is something they’ve probably missed.
“We’re coming from an outdoor enthusiast background, not business or retail” said Trevor Kreznar, who co-owns the store with Ryan Fisher and Brendan Ryan. “So, we’re still learning. If you don’t see something, let us know and we’ll get it… We’re hoping the community will help us get all the best gear.”
The shop opened its doors on Thursday night and shares the building with Fisher and Ryan’s other two businesses, Exit Glacier Guides and Liquid Adventures. The two adventure companies will be operating trips daily simultaneously while the Seward Outdoor Store is open.
“We’re hoping to be a community staple,” Kreznar said. “We want to be that place to hang out, to find beta and to ask questions. We want to make our backyard more accessible for locals and visitors.”
The store is filled with climbing, paddling, camping and backpacking gear from Black Diamond, Big Agnes and more.
“We’re all about having a locally owned spot to supply locals with the gear that they need,” Kreznar said. “It’s also about supporting the local economy and being a resource so locals don’t have to do an Anchorage run to R.E.I. for gear.”
The Seward Outdoor Store will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is located at 1013 3rd Ave.
