Open fires prohibited on Kenai Peninsula

OPEN FIRES PROHIBITED ON KENAI PENINSULA STATE PARKS, KENAI NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE, CHUGACH NATIONAL FOREST LANDS ON THE KENAI PENINSULA AND KENAI FJORDS NATIONAL PARK

In response to current extreme fire danger on the Kenai Peninsula, effective immediately and until further notice, all open fires are prohibited in Kenai Peninsula State Parks, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, Kenai Fjords National Park, and Chugach National Forest lands on the Kenai Peninsula.  Use of cooking stoves and gas grills is allowed.  In addition, Kenai Peninsula State Parks will allow charcoal contained cooking grills but these remain prohibited on other listed public lands.

Fire danger remains very high over much of the Kenai Peninsula.  Residents and visitors are urged to continue to use extreme caution with anything that could ignite a fire.  For statewide fire information, visit the Alaska Interagency Coordination Center website at https://fire.ak.blm.gov/ or http://www.akfireinfo.com.
