5 Point Film Festival comes to Seward Sept. 14

I am stoked to announce that the 5 Point Film Festival is coming to Seward. It will be shown at the Rae Building on Saturday September 14th at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:30 and Zudy’s will have delicious desserts and drinks for sale. Tickets can be purchased at Zudy’s or at the new Seward Outdoor Store on 3rd Ave for $20.00.

A huge thanks goes out to Ella Wright for bringing the film festival to Seward. Ella and her husband Brian moved to Seward in 2017 from Colorado. They quickly fell in love with the community and the many outdoor opportunities Seward has to offer. I asked Ella why she wants to bring the film festival to Seward and she responded with, “I wa inspired by the films themselves but also the community bonds that formed from the event. Films have the power to inspire wonderment and foster a love for the natural world. I am looking to give back to the amazing community here in Seward and build on the mission of igniting personal and communal adventure.”

Ella is not looking to make money from the film festival. Quite the opposite in fact. She said that, “All profits will go toward scholarships for local youth to participate in outdoor activities that might otherwise be unavailable. Our small town sits at the entrance of Kenia Fjords National Park. Many of the tours into the park are beyond the means of local families and our scholarships would allow children of all demographics to experience the hometown beauty that surrounds them everyday.”

When asked about the future of 5 Point Film Festival in Seward she said, “I would love to see the film festival become an annual event. Our team has discussed future ideas that include films/ slide show/ presentation from local individuals, possibly turning it into a multi day event, having live music, featuring local artists, having youth film competitions, bike parade, food vendors.”

The trailer for the film can be watched by going to 5pointfilm.org. The footage is incredible and the short films are inspiring for all ages.  So September 14th come out to the film festival that will jump start your next adventure. Also come out to celebrate the end of an amazing summer with friends. Hope to see you there.
