Personal use tanner crab season is underway in Southcentral in the North Gulf Coast, including Resurrection Bay, Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay.
The Tanner crab sport and subsistence fisheries will be open until Feb. 28, 2019.
In Resurrection Bay, Cliff Reid reported mixed results but “getting a few nice ones!”
A tanner crab shellfish permit is only available online from Alaska Department of Fish & Game. There is also real time harvest reporting online.
“The daily bag and possession limit is three male Tanner crabs, four and one-half inches or greater in carapace (shell) width, including spines. One pot per person is allowed with a maximum of one pot per vessel,” according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
Crab rings are not allowed again this season.
