’Twas the day before Christmas and all the creatures are stirring.
Tonight, Monday Dec. 24, the Seward City Church is hosting a candlelight service at 6 p.m. on Nash Road.
The Seward Public library will be open until 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve but closed on Christmas Day.
On Christmas Day, Tuesday, the Yukon Bar is hosting a Christmas potluck starting at 4 p.m. All are invited! Kids are welcome if they’re accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
From Dec. 27 to Dec. 29, the Alaska SeaLife Center is hosting a “SeaLife Spotlight” program, offering opportunities to learn about Alaska’s unique marine ecosystems. The SeaLife Center hopes to shine a spotlight on the center’s wide array of marine animals through discussions with some resident experts. The SeaLife center is closed Christmas Day, but open 12 to 5 p.m. starting Dec. 26.
For those who want to swim off any Christmas cookies, the Seward High School pool will reopen Dec. 26 with open swim on Wednesday and Friday 6:30 to 7:50 p.m. and Thursday 1:30 to 2:50 p.m. Lap swim will be on Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 to 8 a.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday from 11 to 12:30 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Parent and tot swim is on Thursday from 11 to 12:30 p.m. The pool will be closed from Dec. 29 to Jan. 1. Winter schedule starts Jan. 6.
